CHOOSE WITH CONTEXT

What is the mountain like?

It may suit your trip if…

  • Intermediates seeking long descents in Happo-One.
  • Advanced skiers interested in the moguls of Usagidaira and Kurobishi.

Before deciding

  • Happo-One is one resort in Hakuba Valley, not the whole valley.
  • The gentle base runs do not describe the upper mountain’s difficulty.

Beginners

Sakka and Shirakaba are listed as beginner runs in the official guide. Sakka has family services beside Snow Plaza; choose your lesson according to its meeting base.

Intermediates

Panorama lets you work on turns, while Riesen Slalom offers a longer descent for those with good speed control. Check the map’s variants before skiing all the way to the valley.

Advanced

Usagidaira and Kurobishi stand out for steep slopes and moguls. The Olympic runs are also advanced; finishing in an easy area does not make the whole descent easy.

Practical tip

Distinguish the local Happo-One pass from the Hakuba Valley pass. The latter covers several resorts, but that does not mean they are connected by slopes.

A good way to organize your first day

Sakka or Shirakaba let you start on beginner terrain. If you already ski, get to know Panorama before linking a long descent down Riesen Slalom; save the high moguls until you know the conditions.

YOUR MOUNTAIN BASE

Where to stay

Choose between Sakka, Nakiyama and gondola access according to school and your routine. For children or beginners, proximity to Sakka can matter more than staying near a lift leading to demanding terrain.

Happo-One bases

Filter the official directory and check distances to Sakka, Nakiyama or the gondola. For lessons and children, the specific access base is often decisive.

Compare the cost of your entire stay

Include all nights and rooms, taxes, parking, transfers, and cancellation. For families, provide children’s ages; a rate for two adults is not a budget for the whole group.

ANSWERS FOR PLANNING

Questions about Hakuba Happo-One

Does the Happo-One pass work throughout Hakuba Valley?

Do not assume that coverage. Compare the single-resort product with the valley pass before buying.

Does going up to Usagidaira mean finding an easy descent?

No. The upper mountain includes demanding slopes and moguls; choose your lift together with your descent route.

Where should I book the family lesson?

Start with the meeting point, especially Sakka or another base specified by the school, and match accommodation and rental to that location.
