CHOOSE WITH CONTEXT

What is the mountain like?

It may suit your trip if…

  • Staying within the resort and organizing the day around the slopes.
  • Independent skiers wanting to explore Les 3 Vallées.

Before deciding

  • The Val Thorens–Orelle lift pass is not equivalent to the Les 3 Vallées pass.
  • Crossing valleys late can leave you without a return connection.

Beginners

Start in the Easy Rider areas and check the dedicated pass. Combe de Thorens and Voie Lactée are among the green runs the tourist office suggests for building confidence.

Intermediates

Christine, in the Péclet sector, is a long, varied red run. Boismint and Plan de l’Eau let you link a sustained descent; save it until you are confident on reds.

Advanced

The black Combe de Caron run combines a steep entrance, a narrow section and wider terrain below. It demands technique and stamina, even in good visibility.

Practical tip

Distinguish the Val Thorens–Orelle pass from the Les 3 Vallées pass. Before crossing into another valley, check the lifts needed to return and their closing times.

A good way to organize your first day

For learning, look for Easy Rider and suitable greens, such as Combe de Thorens. If you already ski, explore the local area first and check the return to your accommodation before heading into other valleys.

Where to stay

Locate your building and the school on the village map. Ask about the exact access from the door, especially with beginners: a slope looking close does not describe the route’s difficulty.

ANSWERS FOR PLANNING

Questions about Val Thorens

Should I buy Les 3 Vallées straight away?

Only if you will use it. A beginner or local skiing plan may need another product; compare your itinerary with its coverage.

Is the train station in Val Thorens?

No. Moûtiers requires a final road journey; verify your bus or transfer booking.

Is Combe de Caron a reasonable first run?

It is a demanding black run, with a steep entrance and a narrow section. Assess your ability and the conditions on less committing runs first.

Can I help with your trip a Val Thorens?
