Skiing in
Furano

Furano has two areas, Furano and Kitanomine, connected on the mountain. Choosing the right base makes lessons easier and avoids relying on connections to return to your accommodation.

CHOOSE WITH CONTEXT

What is the mountain like?

It may suit your trip if…

  • Choosing between two bases and devoting full days to each area.
  • Combining slopes with restaurants in Kitanomine or central Furano.

Before deciding

  • The Kitanomine gondola is intended for intermediates and advanced skiers.
  • The opening status and connection between Furano and Kitanomine must be checked separately.

Beginners

Both areas have learning conveyor lifts. The map rates B2 and C1 in Furano, and F4 and F5 in Kitanomine, as beginner runs; they are not all suitable for the first day.

Intermediates

A1 and A2 in Furano, and F2 in Kitanomine, are intermediate reference runs. The Kitanomine gondola is designated for intermediate and advanced skiers.

Advanced

Options include steep runs and ungroomed areas. Premium Zone opens only when conditions allow; check its rules and the report before heading there.

Practical tip

The Furano pass covers both areas. Confirm each area’s opening and the link between them separately; book lessons with the correct meeting point.

A good way to organize your first day

Confirm which area your school meets in. Start on that base’s conveyor lifts and learning runs; with experience, identify the connection and return route before moving to the other side.

Open-data and archive maps do not show real-time opening status. Check the season on historical maps.

YOUR MOUNTAIN BASE

Where to stay

Kitanomine has accommodation and restaurants around the ski district. The Furano area lets you start your day from around Shin Furano Prince Hotel; arrange trips to the town center separately.

Kitanomine

The ski district brings together accommodation, restaurants and bars. It is a base worth comparing if you want several services around your accommodation.

Compare the cost of your entire stay

Include all nights and rooms, taxes, parking, transfers, and cancellation. For families, provide children’s ages; a rate for two adults is not a budget for the whole group.

Not as an automatic choice: the operator lists it for intermediates and advanced skiers. Follow the progression proposed by the school.

Can I take the Lavender Bus from the airport?

Yes, it stops at Asahikawa Airport. Check the current schedule and ticketing system before traveling.
